Antti Rinne elected First Deputy Speaker of Parliament

In its plenary session on Wednesday 11 December, Finnish Parliament elected Antti Rinne (LL.M.) as the First Deputy Speaker.

Rinne is a second-term Member of Parliament from the Uusimaa electoral district. He acted as Prime Minister between June 2019 and December 2019 and, previously, as Minister of Finance in 2014–2015. Rinne has chaired the Finnish Social Democratic Party since 2014.

Tuula Haatainen, Rinne’s predecessor as First Deputy Speaker, was appointed Minister of Labour on 10 December.
